It started with a cake
In 1983, a sheet cake artist misheard an order. Instead of writing "bass is beautiful," she drew a fish. We kept it.

The mix-up that became a movement
Somewhere in 1983, at a celebration we can only imagine, someone ordered a cake with the phrase "bass is beautiful" — a nod to the deep, resonant frequencies that make music feel like it lives in your chest.
The cake artist, bless her, heard something different. She picked up her piping bag and drew a largemouth bass. Leaping. Triumphant. Absolutely convinced it was the right call.
It was. We've been carrying that fish ever since.
What we're about
Bass music belongs outside
BassBeautiful is a community for people who take their music seriously and their settings even more so. We believe the best listening experiences happen under open sky — where the low end can breathe, the air carries the sound, and there's nothing between you and the music.
We're not a gear review site. We're not a festival guide. We're a gathering place for listeners who know that a well-placed subwoofer in a forest clearing is a spiritual experience.

The Land Station Sessions
Sound Test No. 1
Our first documented sound test: a Snow Peak Land Station tent, colored LED lighting, a pair of Bose S1 Pro+ speakers, and a playlist built around bass-heavy music. We set it up in the dark and let it run until the stars came out.
